Training Diary, Day 49: You won’t believe it but…
April 2, 2009 · 3 Comments
The big day finally arrived for our return to training post-blisters/flu/lethargy/bad weather. And what a triumphant return it was; a beautiful sunny day and even an appearance from the “lesser spotted jogger” Kingham.
He was somewhat apprehensive at the estimated three mile round journey but relieved to finally get off the mark on the mileage board (it was becoming a source of amusement for everyone else). To his credit he did jog; Stoke-on-Trent train station felt the earth move as he pounded past and he lasted for some of the way along the Trent and Mersey canal path.
But that was the length of jogging achievement until the walking began, hence my rather kind estimated mileage count from his first effort – a brave attempt.

Alive but not exactly kicking. Actually for our first session it went quite well…as D-Ream said “things can only get better.”
Our intention was to run three miles but thanks to a little holiday route, we managed to add another mile and a half on to that so despite my aching limbs I’m very happy. (more…)

RUNNING, jogging, skipping, sprinting; all words that fill me with dread. It is no exaggerration to say that I haven’t done anything that could be classed as exercise for (hmmm) five months.
But I can take heart from the last time I did go running, which was quite successful and relatively ache and strain free. Plus I can re-acquaint myself with some muscles I haven’t felt for a while. I expect they have missed me more than I’ve missed them. (more…)
