You try and do something good and charitable and what happens? Well everything conspires against you of course. Having been coaxed into walking 22 miles for Comic Relief, the heavens decided to treat us to a mixture of sun, rain, snow and hail as we trudged along the muddy banks of the canal.
Watch our brief video diary, filmed a couple of miles along our route from Shelton to Leek in Staffordshire.
It was a tough walk regardless of the weather after the previous night was spent celebrating a friend’s 21st birthday. The initial happiness having met with some much needed fresh air soon turned to dismay as the awful terrain began to take it’s toll.
And yet all agreed it was the most fun we’d had in ages.
Although some of us had more fun than others after the slippery banks claimed their first and only victim…
(apologies, you’ll have to tilt your head!)
Being a bit muddy, we didn’t receive the warmest of welcomes in Leek but we could all delight in the achievement. An alternative form of exercise had been conquered, as had the canal and in the process we’d raised some money for Comic Relief.

The happy, rain soaked charity walkers - would you let them eat in your pub?
