About

Discussed over a few pints and an indulgent buffet, doing a 10k run seemed like a brilliant idea to get fit, lose weight and raise some money for a great cause.

Competetive instincts soon set in however and the challenge was laid before us – if Kingham would do it me and Slats would have to as well.

‘It’ being the Treetops 10k run in aid of the Donna Louise Trustread more on the Charity page – on May 10, which leaves us a mere 87 days be physically and mentally ready to compete (is there an irony that two of us were born in ‘87?).

This also raised Slats’ ambitions to not just complete the race but try and set a world record in the process. Some research into current holders and their times dampened the cheeky northerner’s desire to do this, although he remains determined to win.

A few minor problems to begin with:

1) All three have never run 10k before

2) Two don’t own a pair of “running shoes”

3) One gets out of breath climbing the stairs

4) One has aged limbs and is extremely lazy

5) One will probably go the wrong way around the track

6) Two last contemplated regular exercise when they were 12

7) All three prefer beer to running

    Hi Steve,

This is a really great blog, and I was wondering if you would consider linking with my own blog, ‘Road to 2012′?

Your jogging embodies the Olympic spirit and I think it would be great if we could link our two sites together through our blog rolls?

    Would that be okay?
    Matt
